Are we still allowed to say Happy New Year? Whatevr. I’m saying it.

January for me has been momentous in many ways. Hence the lack of blog. I’m also a year older so celebrations have been keeping me busy. One celebration I’m actually blogging about now. My oldest and bestest friend Holly treated me a belated birthday treat, taking me for cream tea at ‘Forest’ above Selfridges and then to the HAIR exhibition at Somerset House. IMG_0216

I was in HEAVEN. The HAIR exhibition featured a mock up Chanel runway, endless issues of Vogue and deep insight into fashion shows over the years.

…We then had a very chic and relaxing stay at the K-West hotel & spa in Shepherds Bush. The K-West used to be a recording studio once upon a time and keeps to it’s ‘funky’ roots with a sassy design and modern features. Not to mention we had the best night sleep we’ve had in a while…

1. Bathroom at K West

We were given the huge Embassy suite for our stay (bed as big as your goals) – but my favourite part was the spa. The spa at the K-West actually has a SNOW paradise. So cool (literally).  It’s the only place in the UK to cater for the ‘hot/cold therapy’ alternating between steam and ice environments.

1. Snow Paradise - K Spa

How brill is that?! Admittedly I only lasted a minute in the snow room as I’m a huge wimp but trés exhilarating for sureThe other spa features included a huge hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, and chill out cabins. Whata dream.

My outfit for the evening festivities! (top – Zara, Jeans – Versus Versace)

It’s safe to say we were kept thoroughly entertained at the K-West Hotel with a great room, an amazing spa, a lively bar and a bangin’ eggs Benedict for breakfast.

So, I’m going to be completely honest – this blog would be boring if I pretended everything was perfect all the time BUT I was a LITTLE disappointed at some of the outfit decisions this year at the Golden Globes. These gorgeous ladies just didn’t seem flaunt it as much as usual in my opinion – I felt like a lot of the celebs played it super safe… maybe they’re still feeling a little lazy from Christmas. However – there were some pleasant decisions that gave me dress envy! By the way – there will be NO worst dressed list – I may be stylishly honest but I DO NOT pit women against other women. ‘Worst dressed lists’ need to be abolished from every magazine and online publication.

These are my top 3!

Coincidentally, my favourite outfits this year are ALL in the pink palette! Maybe I’m feeling some kinda girly way but I just feel like these ladies actually made a real statement and took some risks.goldenglobestop3Kate Hudson, Cate Blanchett, Kate Bosworth

Kate Hudson got it all out and played a tough game in a VERY nude Michael Kor’s number – this colour is SO hard to pull off as it has the capability of completely drowning you out – especially as a white girl. And she manages to pull it off without having a major orange spray tan. People tend to over-compensate on the tan when wearing nude numbers like this in order to stand out. Cate Blanchett blew me away in this 1920’s style, PINK PINK PINK (the best pink i’ve ever seen actually) Givenchy Haute Couture frock. This dress is absolutely beautiful, full of detail and looks like it costs a million dollars. Definitely the most couture of the Golden Globes. And Kate Bosworth was another one of my firm favourites in this Dolce&Gabanna floor length gown. It fits her like a glove and compliments her tiny frame. The structure of the dress is incredible along with the jewel finish. I would kill for this dress. She looks absolutely on point – I don’t know how anyone would’t love this dress!

The Neutral Palette Gang!

These ladies didn’t quite make my top 3 but I still appreciated these beautiful looks. I’m a massive fan of Rosie HW and as usual, she slays in this vintage style, Atelier Versace dress. It is truly tasteful. I appreciate her neat hair and makeup choice that lets the dress do the talking. I’m not particularly familiar with Brie Larson but I think her Calvin Klein dress is stunning and extremely flattering – I do however feel like her she should have done an up-do hair wise. A slick ponytail or bun would have given her a bit of edge with such a form-fitting dress. Floor length, glittering gowns have the danger of looking ‘prom day’ without the right hair and makeup. Rooney Mara also impressed me with her fragile, detailed, Alexander Mcqueen frock. I love the vintage-rag doll look that she’s gone for. Her vampy hair and makeup compliment the dress like a treat.

Admittedly, I have a little crush on Lily James. Even though she did beat me to the role of Cinderella – But we’ll forgive her as she seems like a really cool girl. I think this white Marchesa gown looks perfect on her – still keeping to her fairytale theme but she looks sexy at the same time with the sheerness of the gown and her smokey makeup. Good choice girl!

The Red Ladies

Jennifer Lawrence, Amber Heard, Zendaya ColemangoldenglobesredThese aren’t my favourite dresses but these ladies deserve a mention! Jennifer Lawrence who i’m a huge fan off played it safe in this cut-out Dior dress. I appreciate the minimal/modern look of the dress but what brought it to life was the large chain necklace! Always trust an accessory! Amber Heard also looked stunning as usual in this pretty Gucci Couture frock. She almost looked royal! I felt like the dress was actually more of a copper colour than red – very unusual. Zendaya who always kills it for me did resemble the flamenco dancer emoji a tiny bit but she still slayed!! The colour looked beautiful against her complexion and the deep V neck added that sexy touch for her. She looked incredible.

UNTIL NEXT YEAR!!

Sorry to be fashionably late with today’s post guys… it’s been a very busy weekend indeed! So today’s look was basically just to show off my fave T-Shirt in the history of T-Shirts. I was obsessed with Kate Moss’s Playboy cover as soon as I saw it so when I was in Savannah, Georgia and there was a big Marc Jacobs store stocking these Playboy T-Shirts.. my life was complete.

The light grey colour goes perfectly with my fave pale pink winter jacket and my hair rings to edge it up.

I know I’ve said everything is my favourite in this post… but these are really my favourite pair of jeans too. I got them in LA last year and they are about 2 sizes too small but sometimes sacrifices have to be made in the name of lace up legs. Anything with a lace up detail has to be mine.  Especially a lace up jean. I also love a heel with a sock.. well heels and socks. Sheer socks are killing it this season.
