The Bikini Hotel is in the top 100 design hotels in the world. It is jungle themed and one side of the hotel is actually complete glass so you can get a full view of the Berlin Zoo which also just happens to be in the hotel’s back garden pretty much!
The hotel is full of quirky little features including your own bicycles in your room to ride around the city in, hammocks, electronic bathtubs with an in-tub sound system and insightful books scattered around the hotel and your room in case you fancy a read with titles such as ‘How to be an Elegant Gentleman’. Not to mention the elevator having the soundtrack of David Bowie along with electronic artwork moving around the walls. Our room was an XL Urban Room. Which meant it was facing the city. The main feature point was the extreme, grey URBAN bathroom with the HUGE electronic bathtub gracing the middle of the room. Unfortunately we made such a mess in our room (my boyfriend doesn’t seem to grasp the concept that clothes can go in a wardrobe….not the floor haha) – I didn’t think it was best to photograph it so I photographed another room for y’all. Everything is the same as our room except our bathroom was a hell of a lot funkier haha! One of the main features of the hotel is the infamous Monkey Bar. People come from all over and queue for a loooong time to get into the popular bar – one of the perks of being a hotel guest is that you gain instant access with your keycard. Smooth. The bar faces the Berlin Zoo and is honestly the best atmosphere I’ve ever witnessed. This is the hotel ground floor BTW. OMG!And little features like this didn’t go amiss… Our stay overall was so fun. This hotel is full of so many amenities that you don’t want to step outside! The staff was ever so tentative and nothing was ever too much to ask.
I also did this shoot whilst in Berlin…
We also ventured to Mitte and I found my dream store where you could make your own jewellery. The beads and accessories were to-die-for kitsch and featured every sort of charm you could ever wish for from life-like miniature cats to mini records with Michael Jacksons face on it. This is the necklace I made. I also got a bracelet but I’m piecing it together myself as I thought it would be fun… I clearly like to make life difficult.
I should say Berlin was a success!…xo
