Today was officially the first day of the year where I could go out without a jacket and not freeze to death. And guess what? I WORE A JACKET. But it’s okay because this jacket is my statement piece of the month and its totally fab. Fur, denim and studs… what more could’a lady want?
I know some may shy away double denim, cringe at double denim and some would rather sacrifice themselves to a pack of komodo dragons than wear double denim. But I like it – so here’s a whole blog post on me wearing double denim. And of course a cute Guess tee, some Simmi.com (sizzling’) shoes and an oversized choker! Direct link to purchase the entire outfit at the bottom.
Admittedly the choker and jeans are both sold out but I’ve found a similar choker I LOVE and a similar selection of jeans. CLICK the pic to buy!
Are we still allowed to say Happy New Year? Whatevr. I’m saying it.
January for me has been momentous in many ways. Hence the lack of blog. I’m also a year older so celebrations have been keeping me busy. One celebration I’m actually blogging about now. My oldest and bestest friend Holly treated me a belated birthday treat, taking me for cream tea at ‘Forest’ above Selfridges and then to the HAIR exhibition at Somerset House.
I was in HEAVEN. The HAIR exhibition featured a mock up Chanel runway, endless issues of Vogue and deep insight into fashion shows over the years.
…We then had a very chic and relaxing stay at the K-West hotel & spa in Shepherds Bush. The K-West used to be a recording studio once upon a time and keeps to it’s ‘funky’ roots with a sassy design and modern features. Not to mention we had the best night sleep we’ve had in a while…
We were given the huge Embassy suite for our stay (bed as big as your goals) – but my favourite part was the spa. The spa at the K-West actually has a SNOW paradise. So cool (literally). It’s the only place in the UK to cater for the ‘hot/cold therapy’ alternating between steam and ice environments.
How brill is that?! Admittedly I only lasted a minute in the snow room as I’m a huge wimp but trés exhilarating for sure. The other spa features included a huge hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room, and chill out cabins. Whata dream.
It’s safe to say we were kept thoroughly entertained at the K-West Hotel with a great room, an amazing spa, a lively bar and a bangin’ eggs Benedict for breakfast.
I think this is the post everybody has been waiting for on ‘It’s Thursday Tho?’. Am I right?
The day HAS ARRIVED – I have my very OWN collection available to buy on www.betsybluefashion.com
This is NOT merch. These are genuine items that I have designed with every type of girl in mind. You don’t have to be a fan of mine to purchase these clothes. These are designed for EVERYONE. So I just wanted to talk about a campaign I was recently introduced. The campaign called ‘I Can Never Be Too Much’ is for design house Georg Jensen and stars five strong females who have defied conventions and risen to the tops of their industries. A completely different approach to design brand advertising – it’s so revitalising to see a campaign video with a serious message as opposed pouts and poses.
I think this Georg Jensen campaign is particularly significant at this moment in time – with the current news such as Donald Trump’s presidential reign and the on-going fight for equal wages as well as many other problems us women face all over the world due to simply being stereotyped not as ‘able’ as men. Which is completely false obviously.
Whilst researching into this campaign I also found out some interesting facts that you guys might want to take in:
Lets RAISE these percentages of women in the workplace, reduce the percentages of rape, trafficking and abuse (altogether – it’s just as abominable for a man to go through that) and start making the world more aware that men and women are EQUAL and just as ABLE as each other. Let’s make more campaigns like Georg Jensen’s viral and show everyone these incredible women doing these ‘usually’ stereotyped ‘man-orientated’ jobs. These strong woman have showed that you can defy conventions and rise to the top of your game!
As many of you may know – I have been an ‘Evelina’ friend for about 2 years now. The Evelina is the children’s hospital in St Thomas’ Hospital, Westminster who treat children with all kinds of health conditions. It’s the UK’s leading hospital for paediatric heart services. The hospital treats children of all ages; from babies in the womb through to young adulthood. I absolutely love visiting the children and have tried to visit as often as I can – many children have been at the Evelina undergoing treatment for a while and it makes such a difference to their day to have a new face play with them, make them smile and even just talk to them. It’s so rewarding. I also participate in fundraising ideas for the hospital. One of which (The Evelina London Sample Sale) is taking place on Friday!
The Evelina London sample sale consists of clothes donated by leading women’s fashion brand ‘Warehouse’. Every penny goes towards improving care for sick children at the Evelina London. Clothes are sample stock and sold at just £5 per item, meaning that shoppers can purchase a new winter wardrobe at a right bargain!
I was lucky enough to take the first peek through the items and take some photos to show you guys! I’ve photographed some of my favourite bits and my gosh – there is a lot! From thick winter coats to glitzy party dresses, you will be getting the best deal in town whilst supporting a great cause. If you like what you see from my photographs, then pop down to the Evelina on Friday and get your hands on some of these gorgeous garments. And of course – there’s bundles more than what’s pictured on here..! Every item sold will go towards improving care for sick children.. from life saving research and the latest medical equipment, to the little things that help make a stay in hospital less scary for young patients.
Friday 11th November, 10:30am – 2:30pm. Atrium, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Westminster Bridge Road, London, SE1 7EH. Coat and hat from the sample sale…love!Love this gold detail dress!…And I ADORE this drop-back, grey, chiffon maxi dress! Perfect for the christmas season.
With love from me and baby BB! My gorgeous little friend I met on my latest visit xTweet
FACT: Winter is super great for chic, long coats and furry jackets but NOT great for all our cute tops and crops.
So I got sent this lace, camisole from Goldie and whilst I absolutely loved it – it had me thinking ‘how can I show this off without having to drown it in a huge coat?’. Then I thought – ‘Ugh, I wish my furry roll neck jumper was cropped so i could sling it over the top to keep warm but still see the cute top’ … bingggggggo. LETS CUT THE JUMPER! And here were our results.. cute right?
Tottttaaaallly crushing on this new brand I found on Instagram called iamkoko based in LA. They sent me two incredible pieces that they source from vintage stores and customise. One being this Guns ‘N’ Roses tee and the other being the most dreamiest Playboy t-shirt you’ve ever seen. I’m a sucker for some vintage Playboy and it certainly made me happy seeing that little surprise. Expect a blog post on that tee soooon! They also sent over some super cool chokers including this denim one. So dreaaammy. I based my outfit around the tee and accessorised with my incredible Duposh bag, my trusty oversized cardigan from glamorous and my knee highs! My Duposh bag is definitely one of my favourite accessories this season. Made in Amsterdam, they are blinged up to the max in the most classy and sophisticated way. Who wouldn’t want a bag with crystal FANGS? Vampire chic or what!
